“The Moose shall not be known by the least of our members, nor shall our image be tainted by dishonesty on the field.”
The Blue Moose Bylaws
The
Council
The Moose House Lord is and forever shall be Bobo, excepting at such time
as he wishes to leave the game of Amtgard. If such an event should occur, a new
House Lord will be elected of, and by, the council members. The House Lord shall
hold a seat on the council.
The Council shall consist of Moose who meet the following criteria:
A-They
must be active members.
B-They
will be council members for the duration of their time with the Moose.
C-In
the event a council member leaves the Moose, their replacement will be chosen by
unanimous consent of the remaining council members.
A Non-Moose who has indicated a desire to be a member may be evaluated
and accepted as a "Petitioner." A
person wishing to become a petitioner must first find a Moose willing to be
their mentor. That Moose will then ask the council to be allowed to mentor that
person, needing a minimum of 3 of 7 votes. If the subject passes the vote, the
Moose becomes the Mentor, and the person officially becomes a petitioner.
Petitioners are just that - potential house members. They are neither slaves nor
servants. Anyone wishing to become a Moose must spend a minimum of 3 months
being mentored by a current Moose member. The amount of time needed before a
petitioner is “ready” is dependent on their mentor. A petitioner will not be
brought before the council until their mentor deems them ready. If no Moose is
found willing to be their mentor, there shall be no vote, and the subject will
not become a petitioner.
Any player petitioning to become a member of the Moose must first be
"mentored". A mentor will be a current member of the Moose who is in
the same park as the petitioner, or a current Moose member willing to travel to
the petitioner's park bi-monthly for 3 months. Mentoring shall include such
things as working with the petitioner to ensure that they are a worthy
candidate, do not cheat/abuse the rules in any way, and are considered an
honorable fighter amongst other members who know them.
The acceptance of a new member shall not occur without the consent of 5
of the 7 council members. Regardless of the potential size of the Moose one day,
the council shall always be the final word.
Removal of a member from the Council is a serious matter, and may only be
handled by a meeting of all council members in person. Removal from the Council
does not however constitute immediate removal from the Moose entirely. Council
members may only be removed from the Council by unanimous decision of all other
council members. The council member in question may not be present for the vote,
but may be allowed to "plead their case" beforehand. If a Council
member is voted off of the council they are then subject to be removed from the
Moose entirely by the same criteria as a non-council member.
Non-council members may be expelled after an agreement of 5 of 7 council members.
There is no place for "Inactive" members in the Blue Moose.
"Inactive" is defined as not being in attendance for 4 or more months,
after which time the council will vote on removal as described above. However,
personal circumstances will be taken into consideration and will take precedence
over the allotted time period. Additionally, if the member states that they wish
to leave Amtgard, then the time period will be waived.
In the event that an expelled player wishes to do so, they may become a petitioner; a player expelled for inactivity will not be automatically reinstated as a member upon their return to Amtgard. This also applies to previously expelled council members in that they will not automatically regain their seat on the council; however, they will be eligible to be chosen as a council member as would any other Moose in the event an opening occurs on the council. Note that the time period for inactivity is merely a guideline and the council reserves the right to expel any member at any time, for any reason it so deems justifiable.
Any member of the Moose may bring before the council a change that they
would like to see made to the Moose Laws. A passing vote of 5 of 7 council
members will be required to change the Moose Laws.
